I have been to one of the most beautiful countries in the world, all of them has got their own significance, every country is great in it's own way but the country which really touches my heart called Ghana, Africa.
I might be little biased as it's my first tour to any African country. For any traveller in the world, my advice will be if they really want to have the full experience, of the particular place they are visiting, act like them in other words be with them. Forget about all the differences and you will see the real people/place. Old saying which perfectly suits here "When in rome, do what romans do"
So, lets move to our title of this blog, the incident which comes on top of my head, we (my local ghanian friend) are driving through their capital called Accra and reached this countryside which is again the part of Accra
Got little surprised to see on the one side of the road their is complete dark where all these houses are and on other side of the road where this SHELL petrol pump is, has got the lights. I asked my friend why their is no light here, he mentioned that the Pillars for electricity are placed here from last few years, but there is no wires. So, then I asked again how come the PETROL PUMP has got the light and he said with a big smile it's a GHANA for you and on other side the pillars came with wires as Petrol pump was opening up there. I just smiled back to him but this whole scene was running in the back of my mind and makes me think something.....
When I came back to england, I thought about that incident again. I realised we all are so Americanised and to be honest from my prospective there is nothing right or wrong about this, it depends how you think. Infact the technology I'm using at the moment called INTERNET, is made in USA. The whole world came this far it's due to technology and no doubt alot of credit goes to America.
Something I read somewhere, some movie dialouge probably "Greed is good and it's right in whatever form it is - whether it's for life, for money, for love or for knowledge it has marked the upward surge of mankind". But someone ask these world leaders who is running this world that includes all the politicians as well as big businesshouses from America, Europe, Asia and especially from Africa to what extent it's good and atWHAT COST? Nobody wants this at a cost of MANKIND.
According to me, that countryside in Accra needs a Petrol Pump for the upliftment of the area but with a condition that they are going to develop the area in whatever way they can. If all the businessmen and polticians start thinking about giving something back to this society, the whole world will be alot better place to live.......
All sorts of Feedback are invited.
